Laguna Cowpoke Design - Artist Profile

My name is MICHAEL THORSTENSEN, and I am a ARTIST and PHOTOGRAPHER living here in lovely Laguna Beach, California. I’ve had my artwork exhibited throughout Southern California, including the San Diego Art Institute, the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, The Millard Sheets Gallery, as well as here in Laguna Beach. My pieces have also been shown in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and at Boise State University, where one critic described my piece as being “the most comical and simultaneously heartbreaking work in the show” (Go Broncos!).

		While I have worked in graphic design (i.e. business logos and book jacket layout), my main focus has been in digital photography. With the help of a few creative software programs, I have taken my photography to a whole new level of artistic expression and created some unique works of art: producing “political art”, working within surrealism, playing with FLORA, and more recently, creating DOG ART (and a few cats) as well.

Since living here in Laguna Beach for almost two decades (I'm originally from Utah), I certainly consider it home. I enjoy life here with my partner of 18 years Jeffrey Clark and our Kerry Blue Terrier, Maeve and our Border Terrier, Bryce.
